Late 2011 I was given theÂ opportunityÂ to create a unique new brand for our radio station. Â We were rolling out 106.7 The D which was targeted at 80’s and early 90’s rock songs. Â We needed a unique feel for the station that really represented the era of music along with supported the theme “Detroit Rock City”. Â Â I wanted to represent the logo with a custom D that stood out from the rest. Â The oldÂ EnglishÂ D is a classic symbol of Detroit but the station needed something modernized for the 21st Â Century.
It was a pretty amazing honor to find out that the D that I designed will now be used as a tradition in Detroit. Â Instead of dropping a ball like New York does, here in Detroit we will be dropping the custom “D”.
